IMDEA Materials Institute (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies of Materials) is a non-profit research institute devoted to carry out research in Materials Science and Engineering in Madrid (Spain). IMDEA Materials is committed to the excellence in research and to foster technology transfer to the industrial sector in a truly international and multidisciplinary environment. IMDEA Materials Institute belongs to the network of Madrid Institutes for Advanced Studies (IMDEA) promoted by the Regional Government of Madrid.
IMDEA Materials is a young institution with over 70 researchers from 16 different countries and a well established international reputation in the areas of multiscale modelling in materials, processing, microstructural analysis and mechanical characterization of advanced metallic materials, composites and nano-mechanics. This expertise has led to the participation in more than 15 national and international research projects and contracts with industry in the areas of simulation, structural composites, nanocomposites, advanced metallic materials and materials for electronics in the last two years.
In PilotManu, IMDEA will focus on the development of bulk materials through field assisted hot pressing (FAHP) and characterisation of the developed materials and products.
